Historically however, Melcombe Regis has had to go through a lot in terms of tough times to get to the height of popularity that it has got to today. After going through its biggest development in the thirteenth century, Melcombe went through one of its darkest times when it was one of the first points of entry of the Black Death in England in the summer of 1348. Today however, it is now a prosperous coastal town that offers a great place to stay for people wanting to make the most of a day by the sea.
